Next weekend: UC Davis 2012 Oktoberfest
If you can’t make it to Munich for the traditional 16-day long Oktoberfest, then UC Davis can offer you the next-best thing, the 3rd Annual UC Davis Oktoberfest.
There are a limited number of tickets available for the 3nd Annual UC Davis Oktoberfest event coming to campus on September 29. The event takes place in Lot 56 (South of Aggie Stadium) and runs from 3-5:30 p.m. prior to the UC Davis vs. Weber State football game which kicks-off at 6 p.m. New this year, the UC Davis Oktoberfest will offer VIP tickets for those fans who wish to experience the fun beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The UC Davis Oktoberfest event celebrates that UC Davis is the only public university in the United States offering an accredited four-year program in brewing science. The excellence demonstrated in brewing science has produced some of the greatest brewmasters in the nation. This year’s event will feature UC Davis’ own Aggie Lager, produced by UC Davis alumni for UC Davis alumni. Aggie Lager is brewed by Sudwerk and currently sold in local businesses.
Guests will enjoy samples from over 25 breweries. Purchasers must be 21 or over.
There will be 21 different beer vendors in attendance, from Anheuser-Busch to Sudwerk, but don’t ask us to pick a favorite. In the words of UC Davis professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences Charles Bamforth (in a UC Davis magazine photo to the right) and author of the book, Beer is Proof God Loves Us, “all beer is good beer.”
If that isn’t enough to tickle your taste buds, music will be provided by a ’60s-’90s cover band called Sweet Haggis. So it’s multi-cultural!
